Nearly half of Americans have used pot, Gallup poll finds

(stock photo by Drug Policy Alliance) The number of Americans who use marijuana is at an all-time high, a new Gallup poll finds. The research group published a poll on Wednesday revealing that 45 percent of Americans admit to trying marijuana at least once, which is the highest percentage since Gallup began asking the question in 1969. The percentage is a massive increase since Gallup’s first pot poll, of which only 4 percent of Americans said “yes” to the question: “Have you yourself, ever happened to try marijuana?” However, that percentage falls significantly when Americans were asked if they currently smoke pot, as only 12 percent admit to doing so. The poll surveyed 1,021 adults age 21 and over. 13 …

Watch: Jay Leno drives a sports car made out of marijuana

Jay Leno has found a high-performance sports car that smokes the competition with the help of cannabis. The comedian and automobile enthusiast invited retired Dell executive Bruce Dietzen on the latest episode of “Jay Leno’s Garage” to show off the 2017 Renew, an environmentally sustainable car that’s carbon-neutral to produce. The Renew’s body is constructed from woven cannabis hemp, a non-psychoactive crop related to pot. “It’s not made out of marijuana,” Dietzen explains in the video below. “It’s made out of cannabis hemp. You could smoke all the cannabis hemp you could possibly want and you won’t get high.” The show goes on to explain that the car’s material is lighter than fiberglass and ten times stronger than steel, which …

DEA reports no overdoses related to marijuana

Despite the Drug Enforcement Administration’s stance against marijuana, the federal agency concedes that nobody has ever died from taking too much. In their 2017 resource guide titled Drugs of Abuse, the DEA details cannabis as a Schedule I substance that carries a high potential for abuse with no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States. They ultimately admit, however, that “no deaths from overdose of marijuana have been reported.” The guide’s pot entry continues to extol the benefits of cannabis while trying to demonize it at the same time. The DEA notes the common effects of pot use, which includes “merriment, happiness, and even exhilaration at high doses,” as well as “enhanced sensory perception, giving rise to increased …

Watch: How Joe Buck once ate too many weed brownies

Fox Sports announcer Joe Buck will call tonight’s MLB All-Star game in Miami, although his pre-game topic of discussion was all about getting way too high from edibles. Buck joined ESPN’s “Dan Le Batard Show” on Monday to discuss the All-Star festivities, but ended up sharing a story about a 2011 trip to Cabo San Lucas that went horribly awry after eating too many pot brownies. “I go down to Cabo to a place I have down there to try to relax, and I show up thinking that I’m going to do yoga every day, I’m going to read two books, I’m not going to drink, I’m going to do nothing,” said Buck. “I’m just going to heal myself because …

The punishing July heat didn’t stop festival goers from enjoying the best waxes, resins and shatters currently available in California dispensaries. Judges packs were given out to a select few one week prior to the festival in order to determine the highest quality cannabis products in …

Marijuana could be effective in treating migraine attacks, study finds

New research suggests that the medical marijuana could be more effective at reducing frequent migraine pain than existing prescription drugs. In findings presented last week at the 3rd Congress of the European Academy of Neurology held in Amsterdam, experts from the Interuniversity Center in Italy concluded that doses of the active compounds found in marijuana known as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) greatly reduced migraine pain in the study’s participants. Researchers examined the effects of the THC-CBD combination when used by 127 participants suffering from either chronic migraine pain or cluster headaches, a series of brief but severe headaches that occur usually in or around one eye. They found that adults suffered 50 percent less acute migraine pain when given …
