Vermont Governor Could Pass Modified Legalization Bill



Last week, Vermont Governor Phil Scott vetoed the House and Senate-approved S.22 Bill that would have legalized marijuana for adult consumption, possession, and home cultivation.
While many were disappointed in the decision, none were more vocal than Scott’s own Lieutenant Governor David Zuckerman, who called the veto “very short-sighted” and added that he was “sad to see the Governor disregard the will of most Vermonters and reduce individual liberties in our state.”

Vermont’s Governor Scott Vetoes Marijuana Legalization Measure



Vermont Governor Phil Scott had five days to make a decision on the House- and Senate-approved S.22 measure that would’ve seen the Green Mountain State become the first to legalize cannabis through legislative channels rather than voter initiatives.

Vermont governor vetoes marijuana bill, wants changes made


Republican Gov. Phil Scott said Wednesday that he planned to veto a bill making Vermont the ninth state to legalize recreational marijuana but indicated that he was willing to work with the legislature on a compromise.

Scott said he is sending the back with suggestions for another path forward and suggested that changes could be made to the bill in a special session this summer.
