Oregon Economic Forecast Projects Marijuana for First Time



For the first time in Oregon’s history, marijuana is included in the state’s economic forecast presented to Gov. Kate Brown each fiscal quarter.
Presented by the Office of Economic Analysis’ Department of Administrative Services (DAS), the purpose of this statewide economic forecast is to “provide information to planners and policy makers in state agencies and private organizations for use in their decision making processes.”

Cannabis Life Conference Toronto Promotes Normalization



If there’s one word that sums up the Cannabis Life Conference this past weekend, it’s normalization.
Cannabis business functions in legal-ish hotspots like Toronto are becoming a dime a dozen for our rapidly burgeoning industry. The vast majority of these events take place at venues long-accustomed to the corporate conference lifestyle, such as downtown hotels and convention centers.

Internationally Recognized Cannabinoid Specialist on Hunger Strike



The internationally recognized cannabinoid specialist and Chairman of the International Association for Cannabinoid Medicines (IACM) Dr. Franjo Grotenhermen has been on a hunger strike since May 12th.
Grotenhermen’s main motive for the non-violent protest is the price of cannabis medicine which has increased from 15 to 22.10 Euro/gram since the new law was implemented. Observers fear an additional price hike up to 40 Euro/gram.
The law on the use of medical cannabis, which was passed only in January and went into effect in March, does not guarantee the care of patients so far.

Former Kern County Deputies Plead Guilty to Marijuana Trafficking



Former Kern County Deputies plead guilty to stealing and trafficking marijuana.
On Monday, two former Kern County deputies pled guilty to possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
According to a press release from the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), Eastern District of California, “Logan August, 30, of Bakersfield, and Derrick Penney, 34, of Star, Idaho,” admitted to being part of the problem – not the solution:

68-Year-Old Aspen Man Evicted From Assisted Living for Smoking Weed



The 68-year-old man Paul Disnard moved to Aspen, Colorado in 1967, and says he doesn’t know anyone who doesn’t live in Aspen. Disnard has oxygen tubes hooked up to his nasal paths, he moved to the Whitcomb Terrace assisted-living facility when oxygen stopped being delivered to his mountain cabin home.
While living at Whitcomb Terrace, Disnard consumed cannabis to treat his arthritis — an act considered dangerous to the safety of his fellow residents. Now, after a Pitkin County Court judge ruled against Disnard, he was forced to vacate Whitcomb Terrace and find a new place to live.
