Canadian Cannabis Producers Poised to Dominate the Global Marijuana Market – News

While Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spearheads recreational legalization across Canada, the northern nation's cannabis producers are setting their sights far beyond their own borders and towards the global market.

Currently, there are four giant companies that effectively control the medical marijuana sector in Canada: Cronos Group, Canopy Growth Corporation (which has already collaborated with Snoop Dogg), Aphria, and Tilray. There’s no doubt that each of these cannabis producers will surely direct their attention towards the impending Canadian recreational system, but they’ve also taken advantage of the budding medical marijuana market that has started to develop across the globe.

Maryland’s medical marijuana program could be delayed even further if the courts decide to intervene in a conflict between a cannabis company and the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission.

Hawaii Is on the Verge of Legally Changing the Nomenclature of “Marijuana” to “Cannabis” – News

Hawaii health officials could soon be forced to officially change the term “medical marijuana” to “medical cannabis,” which legislative forces believe more accurately describes the true therapeutic nature of the herb without the racial connotations.

There is a bill currently sitting on the desk of Governor David Ige that, if signed, would dictate the change of all documentation, websites or other materials pertaining to the state’s medical marijuana program to express medical cannabis instead.

The bill was introduced by Senator Mike Gabbard because, according to its language, the term marijuana “carries prejudicial implications rooted in racial stereotypes.”

Israel has been a leader in medical marijuana research for years, and now, thanks to a new set of directives released by the country’s Health Ministry, the state is setting a new standard of accommodation by allowing medical patients to legally consume cannabis in public.

According to Haaretz, the new directives went into effect immediately and now permit the use of cannabis oils and vaporizers in public spaces.

Smoking marijuana in public will remain illegal, but a rule change made in March means that even lighting up in downtown Tel Aviv will only result in a citation and a fine.
