North Carolina Hemp Commission May Sue the DEA Over Hemp Regulations


The North Carolina Industrial Hemp Commission is considering joining a lawsuit against the DEA over hemp regulations. The lawsuit is being filed by Founder's Hemp of Asheboro, the first company to register as a hemp producer in the state. The suit will contest the DEA's ruling that products made from cannabidiol hemp are illegal and therefore cannot be transported across state lines.

Michigan Medical Marijuana Dispensary Wins Criminal Case Against Police


Michigan medical marijuana dispensary owner Donald Barnes has been fighting a legal battle against local police for the past three years. The police claimed that Barnes was using his dispensary as a cover to sell recreational marijuana illegally, while Barnes has asserted that the dispensary is a legitimate nonprofit.

The dispensary owner said that cops seized marijuana from his dispensary, along with money, property, and even his Christmas presents. “They seized my personal assets, not just my business bank accounts, but they also seized stuff from my home and my personal properties,” Barnes said.

Argentine Congress votes to legalize medical marijuana


Argentina's Senate voted unanimously Wednesday to legalize medical marijuana, joining the lower house and setting the country on course to become the latest to relax its laws on pot.

California introduces bill to block police from assisting federal raids on legal pot


Fearing the recent anti-marijuana comments made by members of the Trump administration, a group of California lawmakers have introduced a bill to make sure state law enforcement doesn’t end up working against the will of voters by assisting feds crack down on legal cannabis, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Assembly Bill 1578 was presented this week by six Democratic legislators concerned with recent comments from newly minted Attorney General Jeff Sessions and White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, who both hinted at greater federal interference in states that have legalized marijuana.

Colorado Home Grow Bill Aims to Eradicate the Black Market



A Colorado House committee voted 11-2 Tuesday in favor of House Bill 17-1220, a bill that would definitively limit Colorado home growers to 12 cannabis plants per residential home in an effort to eradicate Colorado’s black market. Colorado residents and medical marijuana patients would be restricted to growing six mature (flowering) plants and six immature (non-flowering) plants.
The bill was just introduced on March 2 and passed by a House committee just five days later, blindsiding Colorado’s medical marijuana patients and caregivers.
