Delaware Is Making a Push to Legalize Marijuana

On the heels of the historic passing of a recreational marijuana bill in Vermont, legislators in Delaware also took steps this week toward the legalization of a full-scale cannabis market.

On Wednesday, the General Assembly’s House Revenue and Finance Committee approved the “Marijuana Control Act,” which is designed to establish a taxed and regulated cannabis industry similar to what is currently underway in several legal states.

Bullied in 5th grade, prone to drug abuse by high school






(HealthDay)—A child bullied in fifth grade is more likely to show signs of depression in seventh grade, and abuse substances like alcohol, marijuana or tobacco in 10th grade, researchers say.

Their study of more than 4,000 kids in Los Angeles, Houston and Birmingham, Ala., suggests a dangerous trajectory between not-uncommon childhood abuse and worrisome behavior in high school.
"Our study suggests that it's important to take peer victimization seriously," said study co-author Valerie Earnshaw. She's an assistant professor in human development and family studies at the University of Delaware.

Congress blocks feds from interfering with state marijuana laws

A bipartisan group of House Democrats and Republicans recently hashed out a $1 trillion budget for government spending, but none of which will be used to crack down on legal pot.
A new government funding bill will block the Department of Justice from using federal funds to prosecute law-abiding medical marijuana companies operating in legal states, reports the Orange County Register.
