Colorado: PTSD Legislation Advanced by House and Senate
On April 20, 2017, the State, Veterans, and Military Affairs committee in both the Colorado Senate and House officially signed off on advancing legislation that could eventually add Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a qualifying condition for Colorado’s medical marijuana program.
Passed by a 34 to 1 vote, Senate Bill 17-017 initially garnered strong support on the Senate floor during March. Approved by the House of Representatives on 4/20 after being slightly modified, SB17-017 will now head back for a final vote before the Senate.
Legal – illegal – rational: We lack good examples
So far, Uruguay is the only country in world to legalise cannabis on a national level. Everywhere else that you can buy cannabis or hashish without much fuss, there is a catch. Sales are either simply tolerated, as in the Netherlands and Spain, or they are only permitted for medical reasons, as in some US states, Jamaica or Germany.

The Colorado Department of Transportation has reported that the number of citations for driving under the influence of marijuana dropped by 33.2% in the first quarter of 2017, compared to the first quarter of 2016. The Colorado State Patrol reported that only 155 people were cited for pot-impaired driving between January and March of this year, compared to 232 cited during the same months of last year.
