One of the NFL’s most influential team owners believes it’s time to repeal the league’s harsh policy towards marijuana.

In an owners-only meeting in Arizona last week, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones brought up his concern for the league to “drop its prohibition on marijuana use,” reports Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio.
According to Florio:
Jones also raised the question of the NFL’s position on marijuana. Jones, per a source who heard the comments, wants the league to drop its prohibition on marijuana use.

One of the NFL’s most influential team owners believes it’s time to repeal the league’s harsh policy towards marijuana.

In an owners-only meeting in Arizona last week, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones brought up his concern for the league to “drop its prohibition on marijuana use,” reports Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio.

According to Florio:

Jones also raised the question of the NFL’s position on marijuana. Jones, per a source who heard the comments, wants the league to drop its prohibition on marijuana use. Jones was reminded that the issue falls under the umbrella of collective bargaining, which would require the players to make one or more concessions in exchange for significant changes to the marijuana prohibition.

The NFL carries some of the most severe punishments in all of professional sports for marijuana use. Many of Jones’ players have had to serve suspensions for a full season, or even banned indefinitely, such as Rolando McClain and Randy Gregory.
