Missouri Pushing to Legalize Marijuana in 2018 – News

Despite a string of bad luck that has put the kibosh on marijuana legalization efforts over the past few years, advocates in Missouri are reportedly in the midst of collecting signatures in hopes of putting a brand new initiative on the ballot in 2018.

According to a report from Missourinet, Steve Leck of Springfield recently submitted a proposal to Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft’s office seeking approval to move ahead with a proposal that would legalize medical and recreational marijuana statewide.

Ohio Supreme Court Judge Wants to Free Everyone Imprisoned for Non-Violent Cannabis Crimes – News

Ohio Supreme Court Judge William O’Neill spoke at a meeting of Buckeye state Democrats this week and used his pulpit to call for an end to cannabis prohibition and the release of all non-violent cannabis offenders from the state’s jails.

According to the Guardian, O’Neill has expressed interest in running for Governor of Ohio in the next general election, but has put off the decision until the end of the year.

Nevada Medical Marijuana Dispensaries are Scrambling to Prepare for Early Recreational Sales – News

Earlier this month, the Nevada Tax Commission approved a measure that will allow medical marijuana dispensaries to acquire temporary licenses to sell recreational marijuana. Early sales begin on July 1st, giving dispensaries a little over a month to handle the additional paperwork needed to secure a chance at this lucrative opportunity.

“It’s great news for everybody,” Ben Sillitoe, CEO and co-founder of Las Vegas dispensary Oasis Cannabis, told Marijuana Business Daily.

The state Department of Taxation began accepting applications on May 15th, and will continue to accept them until the 31st.
