Building from a series of rapid marijuana law reform sweeping Mexico, the country’s lawmakers have now voted to approve marijuana use for medicinal purposes.
Mexico’s Lower House of Congress passed a bill on Friday to legalize cannabis for both medical and scientific needs, reports the Associated Press.
“The ruling eliminates the prohibition and criminalization of acts related to the medicinal use of marijuana and its scientific research, and those relating to the production and distribution of the plant for these purposes,” the Lower House stated on its website.

Loophole in Pennsylvania’s Medical Marijuana Law Could Allow Whole Plant Sales
While Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana program is only supposed to allow patients to use cannabis products like oils, pills, and topical ointments, a loophole in the law may actually allow dispensaries to carry the herb in plant form, according to a report from Billy Penn.
Referencing an unsung section of the state’s medical marijuana law, Senator Daylin Leach said, earlier last week, that by next spring, “when dispensaries open, it is likely that they will have whole plants on their shelves.”
He told a crowd during a panel discussion at the World Medical Cannabis Expo in Pittsburgh that this revision
AG Jeff Sessions Says He’s “Got His Hands Full” With Bigger Issues Than Marijuana
America’s legal cannabis industry might be able to exhale about the federal government’s hypothetical “greater enforcement” on recreational marijuana.
In a Wednesday interview with Chuck Todd on MSNBC’s “Meet the Press,” Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper revealed what Attorney General Sessions told him during their private conversation:
He’s got his hands full with things — heroin, methamphetamines, cocaine — other things are even more significant.
Will Nevada be the First State With Cannabis Clubs?
We have been covering the topic of social cannabis consumption for quite a while at The Weed Blog. Being based in Portland we would love to see Oregon be the first state to pioneer this area of the cannabis industry (and we are sure hopeful with Senate Bill 307 on the lines currently).

It has always been difficult to predict how the future of cannabis will unfold. Perhaps the most effective way to see where the industry is headed would be to attend the many events that support its continued emergence.
One of those important occasions is the brand new O Cannabiz Conference that just had its first year in Toronto. It was there, amongst row upon row of sponsors, that a strong reflection of Canada’s upcoming legalization appeared.
Upon first glance, the show lays out as a corporate event.

How I Learned to Stop Worrying on 4/20
Okay.
I have a dark secret to admit.
4/20 intimidates me.
As someone more interested in the social politics and policies concerning marijuana, and less interested in taking dabs or consuming high dosage edibles — not that there’s anything wrong with that — the industry’s highest holiday can feel a bit aggressive and over the top for me.
Can’t we calmly share a couple of joints and engage in light-hearted conversation about the absurdity of it all?
While it might not seem like the natural 4/20 event to attend, I spent 4:20 p.m.
Snoop Dogg tells UFC’s Nick Diaz to cut back on weed
We never thought we’d ever see the day Snoop Dogg would tell anyone to smoke less weed, but it just happened.
