Internationally Recognized Cannabinoid Specialist on Hunger Strike



The internationally recognized cannabinoid specialist and Chairman of the International Association for Cannabinoid Medicines (IACM) Dr. Franjo Grotenhermen has been on a hunger strike since May 12th.
Grotenhermen’s main motive for the non-violent protest is the price of cannabis medicine which has increased from 15 to 22.10 Euro/gram since the new law was implemented. Observers fear an additional price hike up to 40 Euro/gram.
The law on the use of medical cannabis, which was passed only in January and went into effect in March, does not guarantee the care of patients so far.

Texas’ Medical Marijuana Expansion Bill Is Officially Dead

A piece of legislation that would have expanded Texas’ limited medical marijuana program was officially ruled dead on Tuesday, after it became clear that the bill was too far back on the docket to reach the house floor by tomorrow’s legislative deadline.

According to the Texas Observer, the two lawmakers who wrote the bill, Democratic Representative Eddie Lucio III and Republican Representative, and Vans slip-on enthusiast Jason Isaac, went on Facebook Live last night to tell Texans that the bill had failed.

California Proposes New Regulations to Lay Out Rules for Medical Marijuana Testing

Despite having legalized medical marijuana twenty years ago, California has left its MMJ industry largely unregulated. That is all set to change, as the California Bureau of Marijuana Control has released draft versions of regulations that will tightly regulate the industry starting next year. This week, the bureau released a series of draft regulations that will govern how medical marijuana providers must test their products.

The 46-page draft regulations mandate that all medical cannabis sold in the state must be independently lab tested starting next year.
