Cannabis regulations are coming to California. When voters passed Proposition 64 last November to legalize adult recreational use they also agreed to a set of rules that varied from the state’s existing medical marijuana laws.
Both industries, recreational and medical, will have new sets of rules and regulations by January 1st, 2018.

D.C. Police Are Conducting Sting Operations Targeting Pot
Although marijuana was made legal in the District of Columbia a few years ago, a story from U.S. News & World Report suggests that the local police department is now engaging in small time sting operations in an attempt to eliminate any sign of pot commerce from the city streets.
Officers with the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department have arrested around seven people for dealing weed within the last week, the report states.

Michigan Medical Marijuana Dispensary Wins Criminal Case Against Police
Michigan medical marijuana dispensary owner Donald Barnes has been fighting a legal battle against local police for the past three years. The police claimed that Barnes was using his dispensary as a cover to sell recreational marijuana illegally, while Barnes has asserted that the dispensary is a legitimate nonprofit.
The dispensary owner said that cops seized marijuana from his dispensary, along with money, property, and even his Christmas presents. “They seized my personal assets, not just my business bank accounts, but they also seized stuff from my home and my personal properties,” Barnes said.
Despite Political Barriers, Massachusetts Farmers Push for a Place in the Legal Weed Industry
Massachusetts is set to open the East Coast’s first major recreational cannabis market. Voters passed Question 4, the state’s recreational adult use law last November, and after a few delays it seems fairly certain that by July of next year, adults 21 and older will be able to walk into a Boston shop and buy weed. However, the weed sold in those stores will all come from indoor grow houses backed by wealthy investors - something Massachusetts’ small farmers aren’t too happy about.
“That’s not a fair market,” Ted Dobson told the Boston Globe.

The pressure to legalize marijuana worldwide has become so much so that U.S. lawmakers are taking a pot-filled field trip to Europe.
A bipartisan Congressional Delegation that includes New York Congressman Brian Higgins and California Congressman Dana Rohrabacher have scheduled a trip to Europe next week to study their various legal cannabis policies and regulatory systems, reports Marijuana Politics.
The delegation’s multi-country tour will be highlighted by a stop in Germany, where medical marijuana was legalized earlier this year.

A Real Estate Boom, Powered by Pot
QUINCY, Mass. — At the edge of an industrial park in this suburb south of Boston, past a used-car auction lot and a defunct cheese factory, is an unmarked warehouse bristling with security cameras and bustling with activity. Until recently, the cinder-block structure was home to a wholesale florist, a granite cutter and a screen printer. Today, it is home to just one tenant: a medical marijuana operation called Ermont.Legalized marijuana has already upset societal norms, created a large legal gray area and generated a lucrative source of tax revenue.

Walk into Brett Vapnik's medicinal marijuana dispensary in Los Angeles and the pungent aroma of pot is good and strong.
All day long, hundreds of people file in and out—a sign of the strength of the pot industry, despite big question marks posed by the new administration of President Donald Trump.
For now Vapnik, who also has a small pot garden in his store, just sells marijuana for medicinal purposes: from the plant itself, with varying degrees of potency, to beauty products and even chocolate and cookies, all laced with herb.
But next year he expects sales to triple
