Cannabis use will no longer disqualify potential employees from getting a job at Caesars Palace.

Caesars Entertainment has removed marijuana from its list of screened substances during the pre-employment process, reports KSNV Las Vegas.

The popular Las Vegas destination joins a growing amount of companies dropping marijuana from drug testing since Nevada legalized adult recreational use in 2017.

Executives say that there will be strict guidelines, however, and anyone working in transportation will still be screened for pot.

“We just felt that given the changes in laws that were happening across the country, it was prudent for us to take a different point of view on marijuana than other drugs in the pre-employment screening process,” said Rich Broome, vice president of communications at Caesars. “[It’s] very different when you’re at work. If you’re high at work, we will test. And if you have the presence of drugs in your blood stream, it can be cause for dismissal.”

Caesars follows a national trend of companies that no longer test for marijuana, such as AutoNation.
