Connecticut Marijuana Legalization Bill Expected to Die in Committee
A bill that would legalize recreational marijuana in Connecticut seems fated to die in a judiciary committee due to lack of support from legislators.
"It's clear at this point that there isn't support on the committee for it,'' said state Rep. William Tong, co-chair of the committee. "It's not an open question. It's not ambiguous.'' Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy is opposed to recreational legalization, and support from a full two-thirds of the state General Assembly would be needed to override his veto.
A recent poll found that 63% of Connecticut residents support legalization.

The FBI Would Rather Hire Weaklings Than Marijuana Users
Three years ago, FBI Director James Comey revealed that the popularity of marijuana was making it more difficult for the agency to recruit hackers for its cyber crime division because many supremely qualified applicants are habitual marijuana users.
“I have to hire a great workforce to compete with those cyber criminals, and some of those kids want to smoke weed on the way to the interview,” Comey said in 2014.
Although some believed this problem signaled a forthcoming change to the FBI’s no tolerance pot policy, a recent article from the Associated Press shows that while more relaxed
Nevada Bill Aims to Make Cannabis-Infused Candies Illegal
Following in the progressive footsteps of Colorado and California, the state of Nevada made the leap towards legalizing recreational cannabis last November. Since then, lawmakers have been working to implement the system before 2018, but edible manufacturers may face a major hurdle in trying to get some of their products on the market.
Although Nevada may be home to the illustrious and tourist-driven Sin City, Sen. Patricia Farley of Las Vegas believes that the state’s accepted vices should stop at sugary weed snacks.
North Carolina Hemp Commission May Sue the DEA Over Hemp Regulations
The North Carolina Industrial Hemp Commission is considering joining a lawsuit against the DEA over hemp regulations. The lawsuit is being filed by Founder's Hemp of Asheboro, the first company to register as a hemp producer in the state. Governor Jerry Brown Wants to Reconcile California’s Conflicting Cannabis Laws
Cannabis regulations are coming to California. When voters passed Proposition 64 last November to legalize adult recreational use they also agreed to a set of rules that varied from the state’s existing medical marijuana laws.
Both industries, recreational and medical, will have new sets of rules and regulations by January 1st, 2018.
D.C. Police Are Conducting Sting Operations Targeting Pot
Although marijuana was made legal in the District of Columbia a few years ago, a story from U.S. News & World Report suggests that the local police department is now engaging in small time sting operations in an attempt to eliminate any sign of pot commerce from the city streets.
Officers with the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department have arrested around seven people for dealing weed within the last week, the report states.
