John Boehner says feds should ‘get out of the way’ of marijuana legalization

Months after joining a cannabis company advisory board, former Speaker of the House John Boehner is now telling his former colleagues to let legalization flourish.

Boehner recently spoke with Ohio news station WCPO-TV to make several arguments in favor of legalizing marijuana.

In the video below, Boehner explaines how effective cannabis can be when used to treat opioid addicts, PTSD-stricken veterans, and children with epilepsy.

“There’s a lot of evidence that it works, when you look at kids with epilepsy and the fact that they’re taking the non-psychotic part of this plant and reducing the number of seizures they have,” Boehner told WCPO.

The former House Speaker made headlines in April after joining the advisory board of the legal cannabis company, Acreage Holdings.

Boehner has also joined seven U.S. mayors this week in telling the federal government to “get out of the way” of state actions to legalize marijuana, according to Newsweek.
