Some studies suggest that, when the THC in cannabis binds to your cannabinoid receptors, this affects emotional processing by reducing negative bias, so you're more likely to see things in a positive way. Using cannabis shortly before sex can increase your empathy and emotional connection with your partner, Dr. Tishler says. "Even lusty, one-night stand sex is about making some sort of a connection," he says. "The connection [cannabis fosters] happens between people’s minds, not so much their genitals."This intimate feeling extends into post-sex cuddling, since an orgasm leads to the release of both dopamine and oxytocin.

First-time marijuana use in college at highest level in three decades
Credit: University of Michigan
Levels of first-time marijuana use in college have increased sharply in the past three years to the highest levels recorded in the past three decades. In 2015, about one in five college students became a first-time marijuana user.
These results come from the annual Monitoring the Future study, which has been tracking substance use among young adults for the past 36 years. It is conducted by a team of researchers at the University of Michigan and is funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
Study Finds Federal Legalization of Medical Marijuana Could Save $1 Billion for Medicaid
A study published this week in the Health Affairs journal reports that Medicaid patients in states with legal medical marijuana were using fewer prescription drugs than patients in states where MMJ is prohibited. The study looked at quarterly data on all fee-for-service Medicaid prescriptions between 2007 and 2014. The researchers found “statistically and economically meaningful reductions in prescription drug use associated with” medical marijuana laws.
Medicaid will not reimburse patients for medical marijuana treatments, thanks to the Schedule I status of cannabis.
On 4/20, the NFL Starts Testing Players for Cannabis Use
While some football fans throughout America will light up joints this 4/20, some players they root for will be peeing in cups. April 20 isn’t just a stoner holiday, the day also signifies when the NFL starts drug testing its players.
This Thursday, the league will send players messages notifying them of a drug test — and then the players will have “at most” three hours to provide a urine sample.
How Long Does Weed Stay In Your System, THC Drug Test
Critics of drug testing have long pointed out the problem with using urine tests as a way of determining who uses drugs. These critics have pointed out that an employee who lives in a state where pot is legal can follow all the rules and still get in trouble at work when their urine test comes back positive long after they’ve actually sobered up.Other Types Of Marijuana Tests
Although urine tests are the most common cannabis tests, there are a few others you should be aware of.
Volunteering might prevent substance abuse for female student-athletes

Marijuana use higher in pregnant teens than nonpregnant peers
(HealthDay)—More than twice as many pregnant 12- to 17-year-olds use marijuana as their nonpregnant peers, and significantly more use the drug than pregnant women in their 20s, according to a letter published online April 17 in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
The new findings stem from a 2002 to 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health that explored marijuana use among 410,000 females ages 12 to 44. About 14,400 survey participants were pregnant at the time of polling. All participants were asked about their pregnancy status and marijuana use during the prior month.
New Hampshire’s Legislature Hears Marijuana Policy Proposals
New Hampshire’s legislature hears marijuana policy proposals that would loosen the State’s regulations on the use of marijuana. Some of the bills that were up for discussion included language that would allow people authorized to use medicinal marijuana to grow their own plants at home, AND would add Post Dramatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Chronic Pain to the state’s qualifying conditions for medical marijuana use.According to New Hampshire Public Radio, all of these measures overwhelmingly passed the House last month and are now in the Senate. At last week’s public hearings, several people testified in support of these proposals, including many

Young adults get more pleasure from smoking cigarettes while they are drinking alcohol than they do while using marijuana, according to a new UC San Francisco study.
The study is the first to document that tobacco accompanied by alcohol provides cigarette smokers with a greater perceived reward than when they smoke cigarettes while using marijuana.
The study will be published online April 18 in the journal Addiction Research & Theory.
"What we've learned may have important implications for understanding differences in co-use of cigarettes with alcohol versus marijuana," said co-first author Noah R.
New Hampshire Legislators Debate Marijuana Decriminalization
The New Hampshire Senate is currently debating the details of a bill that would decriminalize marijuana possession. Last month, the state House overwhelmingly voted in favor of a bill that would make possession of an ounce or less of pot a violation, not a crime. The bill would prohibit police from arresting anyone possessing that small amount of weed, and set a fine of $100 for a first-time offense.
“The prohibition is crumbling,” Matt Simon, New England political director for the Marijuana Policy Project, said.
