Cannabis consumers come in many forms so we’ve included multiple points of view in our strain reviews. Our longtime reviewer Monterey Bud joins Duke London, Multimedia Coordinator Allena Braithwaite and Managing Editor Lesley Nickus. Today, they’ll be reviewing Golden State Banana.

Monterey Bud
Golden State Banana is the tropically scented byproduct of knowledgeable cultivators and great genetics. A persuasive Indica dominant hybrid, the strain is a hybridized offspring of Ghost OG and Banana Kush. Structurally solid and visually impressive, my nug was characterized by its crystallized calyx and cannabinoid-loaded trichomes., I imagine this is the type of flower — a perfectly blended portrait of olive green and burnt sienna — that Bob Ross would’ve found inspirational. Ripped from my old Sheldon Black Bubbler, Golden State Bananas provided a relaxing toke and help bring a civilized end my hectic workday.
Duke London
A brilliant cross of Banana Kush and Ghost OG, this tropical smoothie is as beautiful as it is delicious. Rolled up and faced, this heavy Indica-dominant Hybrid hit me like a ton of bricks of banana bread — warmly and gently. The high-THC strain from terp-masters Synergy is a frosty sight to behold, but if you behold too long you’ll have sticky fingers, so a grinder is definitely in order. Like a long summer afternoon hanging outside, the Golden State Banana will creep up and burn you, so take it slow at first, always sit somewhere with the understanding you will most likely fall asleep, and apply sunscreen when baking in the wild.

Golden State Banana hit me hard with relaxation after smoking a joint with some friends. I wanted to participate in the conversation, but found my mind wandering. Focusing was a challenge. I just wanted to sit in the sun and take a nap. The flavor was surprisingly lacking in the fruity terpenes I had hoped for, but it wasn’t unpleasant.
