Massachusetts May License 3 More Marijuana Retailers

BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts regulators will consider licensing three more recreational cannabis stores, but it remains unclear when retail sales might begin.

The Cannabis Control Commission is expected to vote Thursday, July 26, 2018, on retailer licenses for Alternative Therapies Group and New England Treatment Access.

Alternative Therapies operates a medical cannabis dispensary in Salem. New England Treatment has dispensaries in Brookline and Northampton.

If granted, the licenses would allow the companies also to sell recreational pot to adults.

A dispensary in Leicester holds the only other retail license issued so far.

All cannabis products, however, must first be tested by independent laboratories, and no testing licenses have yet been issued.

The commission has said at least one testing lab completed the application process, but no vote has been scheduled on that application.
