Dejected, petulant and ready to lash out, Trump’s inner circle on Monday floated the notion that the president was considering replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions with America’s Mayor – A.K.A. Rudy Giuliani.
Offended Sessions recused himself from the Russian investigation, Trump allegedly floated the notion of tapping New York City’s ex-Mayor to fill the vacancy.
Giuliani: blunt and to the point
Seemingly anxious to avoid serving in Trump’s White House, Giuliani quickly shot down Monday’s trial balloon, informing CNN “there is no truth to a report by Axio.” Ostensibly removing himself from further consideration as the head of the Department of Justice (DOJ), Giuliani was also quick to point out to CNN that the Attorney General “made the right decision under the rules of the Justice Department” in recusing himself.
At odds with Giuliani’s assertion, POTUS ranted to the New York Times last week, complaining that “Sessions should never have recused himself, and if he was going to recuse himself, he should’ve told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else.”
