Russian media calls out Morgan Freeman for ‘marijuana use’

Russia’s state-controlled news media outlets are questioning Morgan Freeman’s pot use in response to a viral video calling for further investigation on the country.

Nearly all state-controlled media in Russia are currently verbally abusing the Academy Award winner after his appearance in a video directed by filmmaker Rob Reiner for the Committee to Investigate Russia, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

A news anchor from the Rossiya 24 network blamed Freeman’s “excessive workload” and “marijuana use” for his narration in the video, where he says that the U.S. “came under attack by the Russian government.”

But other Russian networks are putting Freeman on blast for drinking, emotional stress, and even his body of work.

Film director Yuri Grymov appeared on the news show Vest to call Freeman’s remarks “rubbish,” and adding “I think, the grandpa just got drunk.”

Furthermore, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted by the TV Center network as saying that Freeman’s statements were caused by “emotional strain.”
