Will Minnesota marijuana legalization happen in 2017?To set the stage, medical marijuana became legal in Minnesota on July 1, 2015 after a bill full of restrictions and regulations passed the State Legislature in 2014. Last year, the state added intractable pain to the list of qualifying conditions, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is set to be added to the list towards the end of the summer.

Minnesota’s Medical Marijuana Companies Are Running a Combined $11 Million Deficit – News

Both of Minnesota's state-licensed medical marijuana companies are deep in the red, according to annual financial statements submitted to state regulators uncovered by the Associated Press.

Minnesota Medical Solutions and LeafLine Labs both recorded losses of over a million dollars in 2016. Both companies ended 2015 in the red as well, with MinnMed ending 2016 $1.3 million in the red after losing more than $3 million in 2015.

Congress blocks feds from interfering with state marijuana laws

A bipartisan group of House Democrats and Republicans recently hashed out a $1 trillion budget for government spending, but none of which will be used to crack down on legal pot.
A new government funding bill will block the Department of Justice from using federal funds to prosecute law-abiding medical marijuana companies operating in legal states, reports the Orange County Register.
The budget’s full text of the marijuana provision is as follows:
None of the funds made available in this Act to the Department of Justice may be used, with respect to any of the States

“Thousands of Pounds” Were Seized in Colorado’s Black Market Bust



Just days after Colorado’s House passed a bill targeting the state’s black market, the DEA and Colorado authorities raided over 20 illicit facilities used to grow and export illegal marijuana.
This bust resulted from months-long investigation and not related to the recent bill, but Colorado’s recent plea to wipe out the state’s black market is off to a successful start.
