No longer content with just collecting glass, Bronson took a turn behind the torch with Elbo and the result is a multi-colored raptor with an eye-patched poodle disk attached. While Elbo did the heavy lifting, Bronson crafted the entire bottom section:
While this was clearly a collaboration, Elbo told me that Bronson appeared to be “a natural” with glass. Speaking last week at his studio, Elbo commented that “Bronson actually has some serious chops. If he spends some time working on glass, watch out. This guy could do some damage!”
The piece of glass, while on display last week, is not for sale. Elbo told me the two plan on co-owning their work of art to whatever extent that’s possible. For now, this puppy rests safe and sound at Elbo’s studio.
For those uninitiated with Elbo, he is to glass what Bronson is to weed: a true innovator. A natural teacher and top echelon artist, Elbo became the first pipe maker ever to teach a class at the acclaimed Pilchuck School just last year.
