If you’ve been following recent news pertaining to the cannabis industry, you might have noticed a trend in states with recreational legislation in place. From Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper’s recent backtracking on his initial opposition to legalization, to Washington Gov.

Washington, one of the first states in the nation to launch a fully legal recreational cannabis market, is reportedly searching for a new seed-to-sale provider, reports Marijuana Business Daily.

It seems the state’s current seed-to-sale company, BioTrackTHC, who landed the job back in 2013, has no plans to renew its multi-million dollar contract. Reports show the company is uncomfortable with some aspects of the state’s requirement and no longer wishes to provide its services.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau first revealed his desire to bring down the scourge of marijuana prohibition in the northern nation nearly a year ago.

The regulatory woes are hitting Massachusetts. Lawmakers in the Bay State have been trying to amend the voter approved recreational cannabis legalization law since it passed in November, and the lack of clarity is now taking a toll on the state’s existing medical marijuana community.

According to the Boston Globe, municipalities across Massachusetts are slow to approve medical marijuana permits thanks to the uncertainty surrounding the state’s recreational law. As the law currently stands, once recreational sales are approved, medical dispensaries will be able to sell to the age-approved general public without any additional permits or licenses.

OTTAWA The Canadian government will introduce on Thursday legislation to legalize marijuana for recreational purposes, a source familiar with the matter said on Monday.

The Liberal government made legalizing recreational marijuana part of its successful 2015 election campaign and had said it would introduce legislation this spring.
