DEA Chief Still Doesn’t Believe Marijuana Is Medicine – News

Although more than half of the nation has recognized the cannabis plant, in some form or fashion, for its medicinal capabilities, the acting chief of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Chuck Rosenberg, still believes that “marijuana is not medicine.”

At a recent event in Ohio, one of the 29 states to legalize a comprehensive medicinal cannabis program, Rosenberg told the crowd that marijuana does not, in any way, have therapeutic benefits in a manner similar to prescription drugs approved by the U.S.

4-year-old Boy on Medical Marijuana Taken By Authorities

GW to file cannabis drug as journal confirms epilepsy success | Reuters




LONDON GW Pharmaceuticals is set to file its cannabis-derived drug with U.S. regulators imminently, following publication of detailed data on its success in fighting severe childhood epilepsy.GW first reported in March 2016 that Epidiolex cut monthly convulsive seizures by 39 percent in children with Dravet syndrome, but full results of the 120-patient study were only published in the New England Journal of Medicine on Wednesday.The journal article also showed that 5 percent of patients stopped having seizures altogether and 43 percent saw their seizures cut by half.

Public Hearing on New California Cultivation Regulations



On Tuesday afternoon in Santa Ana, the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) held the first in a series of public hearings that aim to collect constructive criticism about newly proposed medical marijuana regulations.
Back in 2015, the Medical Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act represented the first attempt to regulate California’s medical marijuana industry since its inception.
