Nevada Bill Aims to Make Cannabis-Infused Candies Illegal


Following in the progressive footsteps of Colorado and California, the state of Nevada made the leap towards legalizing recreational cannabis last November. Since then, lawmakers have been working to implement the system before 2018, but edible manufacturers may face a major hurdle in trying to get some of their products on the market. 

Although Nevada may be home to the illustrious and tourist-driven Sin City, Sen. Patricia Farley of Las Vegas believes that the state’s accepted vices should stop at sugary weed snacks.

West Virginia Lawmakers Send Medical Marijuana Bill to Governor

(Reuters) - Lawmakers in West Virginia on Thursday passed a bill that would allow patients to use some forms of cannabis for medical needs, state records show.If signed by Democratic Governor Jim Justice, the measure would make West Virginia the 29th state to allow the medical use of cannabis products including tinctures, extracts, pills and oils, according to the Marijuana Policy Project.It does not authorize patients to smoke pot or grow their own marijuana, the Marijuana Policy Project said.(Reporting by Sharon Bernstein in Sacramento, California;

U.S. congressmen headed to Europe to discuss legal pot industry

The pressure to legalize marijuana worldwide has become so much so that U.S. lawmakers are taking a pot-filled field trip to Europe.
A bipartisan Congressional Delegation that includes New York Congressman Brian Higgins and California Congressman Dana Rohrabacher have scheduled a trip to Europe next week to study their various legal cannabis policies and regulatory systems, reports Marijuana Politics.
The delegation’s multi-country tour will be highlighted by a stop in Germany, where medical marijuana was legalized earlier this year.

Worth repeating: Marijuana can help end the opioid epidemic














Despite what the Trump administration tells you, marijuana can actually help put an end to America’s addiction to painkillers.

A new study has found that the rate of hospitalization related to opioid painkillers dropped at an average of 23 percent in states that allow medical marijuana, reports Reuters.
The study, which was published in the Drug and Alcohol Dependence report, also observed a 13 percent drop in the average of opioid overdoses in said states.

California introduces bill to block police from assisting federal raids on legal pot


Fearing the recent anti-marijuana comments made by members of the Trump administration, a group of California lawmakers have introduced a bill to make sure state law enforcement doesn’t end up working against the will of voters by assisting feds crack down on legal cannabis, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Assembly Bill 1578 was presented this week by six Democratic legislators concerned with recent comments from newly minted Attorney General Jeff Sessions and White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, who both hinted at greater federal interference in states that have legalized marijuana.
