NBA superstar Karl-Anthony Towns says league should allow medical marijuana

Minnesota Timberwolves’ star center Karl-Anthony Towns supports his fellow players using marijuana as medicine, and hopes the NBA will soon feel the same way.

In a recent sit-down interview, Towns explained to ESPN‘s Nick Friedell why he believes the NBA should end its ban on marijuana.

“Just because we’re NBA athletes, we’re not super humans. Some of us have conditions that could use [medicinal marijuana] to our benefit for everyday living,” said Towns.

He added by saying he agrees with former NBA commissioner David Stern, who voiced his support for allowing medical use in a recent video interview with ex-Golden State Warriors player and current marijuana businessman Al Harrington.

According to Towns:

I agree with David Stern with marijuana. You don’t have to actually make it “Mary J” [or] “Half Baked.” You don’t have to do it like that, but you could use the [chemical] properties in it to make a lot of people better. That’s something that Adam Silver has to do.
