Massive and Elaborate Cannabis Farm Busted in the U.K.

Last week, police in Lancashire, United Kingdom, uncovered an indoor cannabis farm with a street value reported at over £1 million.

The grow-op was designed to look like a vacant mill, complete with living quarters and a secret elevator disguised by a stone fireplace.

When police first entered the property, they saw nothing but empty rooms. But then authorities broke through cinderblock walls that were designed to hide the three-story farm. Once inside, police found 1,300 plants worth £760,000, 16 kg of loose cannabis worth £230,000, and £250,000 worth of growing equipment. A 31-year-old man was also arrested on site.

Detective Inspector Vinny De Curtis said that the operation was “enormous” and “one of the most sophisticated in the UK.” De Curtis added that “this is the largest and most sophisticated cannabis factory I’ve ever experienced and I am delighted that we have been able to take such a large amount of illicit drugs off the streets of Lancashire before they are able to reach vulnerable people within our communities.”
