Nelly won’t be allowed to rap about smoking weed in Saudi Arabia

Rapper Nelly is set for his first performance free of any references to getting stoned.

Nelly is scheduled for a Dec. 14 concert in Saudi Arabia that forbids him from rapping about several topics that includes marijuana, reports the Washington Post.

Strict concert rules will severely limit the Midwest rapper famous for lines like, “If you want to go and get high with me/Smoke a L in the back of the Benz-E,” or “light it up and take a puff, pass it to me now.”

The upcoming performance comes under several reforms led by 32-year-old Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Roughly $2.7 billion worth of funding was allotted to the country’s newly-implemented General Authority for Entertainment in order to boost the amount of leisure activities.

Saudi Arabia’s tolerance for modern culture still won’t allow for lyrics referencing alcohol, marijuana, or sex, however. Only men have been allowed to attend these concerts as well.
