Seattle: Bad Cop Pleads Guilty to Transporting Marijuana to Baltimore

Alex Chapackdee, a 16-year veteran of the Seattle Police Department has pled guilty to money laundering and transporting marijuana to the East Coast.  

Arrested in May in the Western District of Washington State, the former Seattle police officer admitted to conspiring with three other individuals to transport and distribute hundreds of pounds of marijuana to the Baltimore area – and subsequently laundering the proceeds.

In custody since his arrest, on Monday the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District spelled out the terms of Chapackdee’s plea agreement in a press release.

“Under the terms of the plea agreement, both sides will recommend the mandatory minimum five-year sentence when CHAPACKDEE is sentenced on March 1, 2018.”

Not bound by the recommended agreement, U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Zilly could theoretically still throw the proverbial book at Chapackdee by sentencing him to the maximum term of 40 years in prison.
